Our Commitment
At Pilgrim’s, taking bold action to protect our planet and feed a growing world requires clarity of purpose and a commitment to measurable progress. We are focused on advancing sustainability in ways that strengthen our operations, support farmers and ranchers, and contribute to a more resilient global food system.
Our sustainability framework strengthens what works by continuing to embed sustainability throughout our operations. It is built on three key pillars:
Maintain excellence: We’ll continue to uphold safety, compliance, and culture to ensure continuity.
Drive progress: We’ll continue to advance near- and long-term climate, energy, and water goals, including reducing Scope 1 & 2 emissions intensity by 30% by 2030 and 70% by 2050.
Build resilience: We’ll continue to support producers with regenerative practices and improve supply chain transparency to mitigate deforestation risks.

Our Approach
As a global food company, we are working to minimize our reliance on natural resources, improve resource conversation, and protect the environment through all steps of our processes at Pilgrim’s.
Our Environmental Policy guides our approach, and we instill a sense of accountability amongst our team members to adhere to the policy. Globally, the policy is reinforced by Pilgrim’s executive management and overseen and governed by our environmental teams. In-plant personnel directly oversee the policy during environmental reporting to ensure implementation. To ensure we continue to drive progress, we tie senior executive compensation considerations to performance against environmental goals.
Across the globe, our facilities operate in compliance with relevant laws and regulations and, in most cases, in accordance with internally audited environmental management systems (EMS). Our EMS are based on ISO 14001 standards, which 38 Pilgrim’s facilities received third-party certification against in 2024.
In 2024, we utilized Envizi ® as our global sustainability data management system across our operations. This platform has been implemented to serve as the single source of data around facility performance related to Scope 1 & 2 GHG emissions, energy, fuel, water, wastewater, and waste, as well as Scope 3 emissions and source data. This standardization enables us to increase oversight frequency from our Board of Directors and executive leadership.
